Hammer and Tongue, Monday December 5th 2011
December in Hackney is going to move temporarily back to a Monday with an all-star line-up that will be a challenge to improve on in 2012 (although we will try): Kate Tempest and Dizraeli at The Victoria, 451 Queensbridge Road, Dalston. E8 3AS with open mic slam.
Kate Tempest: on a upward road to (super?)stardom simply by being good – powerful, relevant, articulate and moving. “Her works are truly of upliftment and betterment” – Roots Manuva
Dizraeli: 2 x UK Slam Champion (with BBC and Farrago), he is a multi-talented writer, a hugely original freestyler and one of the most accomplished performers in UK poetry.
Their list of credits is too long to mention. So just click attending, pass it on to your friends and get there early!
Plus there’ll be the 1st round of slam heats for 2012’s final – first come first served. Doors and the incomparable DJ Xahdrez, playing real vinyl from the weirdest and wickedest recesses of music from 7pm.
All for £5/4
videos here of Kate performing at a slam H&T ran for the BBC and Diz’s video for his 2009 single, Bomb Tesco. We’ll also start the new season of slams for 2012’s final so start practising your poems now!
